Social Science Research Lab

The Social Science Research Lab (SSRL) is a 20-seat instructional and research computing lab operated by the Department of Sociology at Brown University.

We offer 20 Windows-based PCs for use by Sociology-affiliated graduate and undergraduate students, high-capacity network printers, a large-format color poster printer, and presentation technology for use within the department.

Each PC has copies of Microsoft Office, SPSS, Stata, SAS, ESRI ArcGIS, nVivo, StatTransfer, MLwiN, SpaceStat, and other special-purpose social science applications. We also maintain a library of printed documentation for the software available at the SSRL.

We provide training to our graduate students in topics such as effective presentation of quantitative information, creating large-format posters, and the effective use of productivity, statistical, and other social science software.

For more information, please contact Don Rogers, the Social Science Research Lab Manager, at (401) 863-2550.
